About Akeem Dodson “The American Cricketer”
My name is Akeem Dodson. You might know me as the wicketkeeper-batsman who represented the USA from 2004 to 2017.
PASSION, PERSEVERANCE, PRIDE!
THE JOURNEY
Akeem Levar Dodson (born September 6, 1987) is an American professional cricketer. From New York City, he made his senior debut for the United States national team in 2008, having earlier played for the national under-19 side at the 2006 Under-19 World Cup. A left-handed wicket-keeper/batsman, Dodson represented the United States at the 2013 and 2015 World Twenty20 Qualifiers. He last represented the national team in 2017, and continues to coach and play semi-professionally in the USA.
My career wasn’t a straight line. It was a fight. Growing up in New York, I didn’t have a structured academy system handing me a contract. I had to build my own path through club cricket, regional trials, and the relentless pressure of selection politics.
I learned that being a professional cricketer in America requires two skill sets:
- The Athlete: Discipline, technique, and high-performance habits.
- The CEO: Managing your brand, your finances, and your network.
THE TRANSITION
Since away from international duty, I haven’t slowed down. I pivoted my competitive drive into entrepreneurship and project management.
Today, I am an author, a mentor, and a business owner. My mission is to professionalize the sport in the US by empowering the players.
Whether it’s through my book, How to Be A Professional Cricketer In America, or my private coaching, my goal is simple: To help you stop guessing and start playing like a pro.
